Cyber Security
The cluster promotes a structured and ongoing dialogue between politics and science on current developments in the field of cybersecurity. The focus is on high-impact cyber threats. As an integral part of the National Science Advice Network, its members reflect on transversal risks and common issues together with the other clusters. Many crises of various nature have a cyber component.
Activities
The cybersecurity cluster defines its work packages together with the federal and cantonal authorities.
On the one side, the administration disposes of extensive internal expertise. For various reasons, such as speed and data security, addressing a cyberattac cannot be externalized to scientific experts. On the other side, exchanges between experts and the administration are needed and fruitful both before and after the immediate onset of a major incident.
Composition
The cluster gathers interdisciplinary expertise, including from technical disciplines and engineering, but also social sciences and humanities, in order to discuss the broader implications of cyber risks. The steering group has recruited experts from various Swiss universities and universities of applied sciences as well as from the practical realm.
